Trusting The Way

Hi, I'm Debi Kermeen, and this is my new blog. Since I was a very young girl, I have followed the path of the heart. Every twist, turn, and obstacle has guided me to where I stand today, with my inner child, Little Debi, residing peacefully within.

Sadly, the only tangible memory of my childhood is a photo from my oldest sister's photo album. Most traces of my past, including my hope chest filled with mementos, pictures, scrapbooks, journals, yearbooks, and hope itself, were lost during various relocations, evictions, and upheavals during my tender years. In my early teenage years, I experienced temporary homelessness, which taught me about gratitude, compassion, and longing. Though the memories are stored in my body, I have some excellent tools for reclaiming my power and healing my past. Like the work we do in the world, teaching, creating and walking labyrinths.

Healing The Path of Her Heart

I keep that single childhood photo of me on my nightstand beside my bed. I take a moment each night and, upon waking each day, to ask my inner little girl how she feels and what she may need. Like "Hey there, kiddo! How are you feeling today? What do you need from me? Maybe a hug, a play day, writing energy, creating, dancing, or walking in nature to connect with the elementals. How about some dark chocolate?

Then, I do my best to commit to giving her what she desires without fail. You see, now she has adult Debi to watch over her with full attention, that vulnerable child who wanted to feel safe and secure and loved and like she belonged instead of neglected and poor.

I can now guide her with fierce love and forgiveness so that she can find and tap into the power that had resided in her all along.

As I walk this path of the heart, I have learned something of great importance: if one wants greater clarity of one's purpose and to find profound meaning in one's life, vulnerability is the heart's true path to getting there! It certainly must be the most feminine of all human qualities.

Love, Debi
